Description
The juxtaposition of the agave and snow was found in the Chiricahua National Monument many years ago while hiking with a dear, now deceased friend. The Chiricahua Mountains are one of the many "Sky Islands" of the desert Southwest. The “Sky Islands” have also been refuge for species more adapted to cooler temperatures as the climate has warmed over millennia and their shallow winter snowpack stores scarce water for the valleys below during the spring.
