Description
A cluster of the Banana Yucca's bell shaped flowers that bloom in the spring across the desert Southwest. It grows on grasslands and dry, rocky slopes between 2,000 and 7,000 feet all the way from southeastern California, across southern Nevada and Utah, into southwestern Colorado, all of Arizona and New Mexico and into west Texas. It is very hardy, as this one must be to survive on the rocks in a dry wash near Tucson, Arizona.
The flowers are of a waxy white texture and color, about 5 inches in length, giving way to banana shaped seed pods in the late spring and summer. The plant may be a single stem up to 6 feet tall, or can be multi-headed and wider than it is tall.
