Description

Do not let the beauty of this flower lure you in because underneath its beauty, this Beavertail Cactus (commonly referred to as Prickly Pear) holds some pretty menacing large thorns. However; if you get past them, there are pods of microscopic tiny thorns, that when they find you, will be with you for days. Despite all those warnings the flower is beautiful and the fruit of the plant is said to have great medicinal qualities.
This one was found in Joshua Tree National Park, but they are quite common through the desert Southwest of the United States and throughout Mexico.
