Man made or natural, you don’t have to look far to find a prick in the Arizona desert!

They are shady! Literally! That is one of the reasons cacti have spikes, they create shade! When it is over 110 degrees Fahrenheit for over a month straight, any shade is good shade!

I saw this Barrel Cactus while hiking in the Tonto National Forest along the base of the Superstition Mountains in Apache Junction, Arizona. I captured the photo as I was drawn to the contrast of man-made versus natural spikes.

Both can cause pain despite having good intentions!
