Description

Carnegiea gigantea f. cristate. This is by far the best specimen I have seen, though I have seen maybe a dozen others. This is supposedly a deformity. Nobody knows for sure what causes it, but there is a lot of speculation. These are rare and highly prized. This one had been moved. It is not common for a moved saguaro to survive. When I drove by the spot a couple of days ago, I didn't see it. So I don't know what happened to it. But I got a picture while I could.
