How Green Is My Valley

Little do they know is right, as the reply to Bonnie's comment shows. If we have our normal summer monsoons, the desert comes alive with lush greenery. Desert doesn't necessarily mean brown and ugly. Arizona has all 4 deserts of the United States, this one (the Sonoran Desert) is home to the saguaro cactus as seen here.

Thank you, Bonnie! You are so right. For those who think the Arizona deserts are all brown and ugly. It's a misnomer for sure, as our Arizona Upland region of the Sonoran Desert sets the record straight. How often do you see an artist render the saguaro cactus in this setting (maybe my Jerry), so many put it in a Monument Valley kind of setting. I am glad you like it enough to choose it as a favorite.

Your comment, is exactly why I share such an image. Arizona has all 4 deserts of the U.S. This is the Sonoran Desert (home of saguaro cactus pictured), which has 7 regions to that desert. This is the Arizona Upland region (which has 5 seasons), it is a very lush desert, especially during the summer monsoon season. Thank you for the Homepage Feature in your wonderful art group, American Desert Southwest. I really appreciate the special recognition, like, and a favorite.

The Cienega Creek area is so lush and green from the rains, but it does get quite bleak come winter, as all the mesquite trees lose their leaves, as with the Palo Verdes too. But this area is so lush and green now in this lovely springtime season. Down in the washes, valleys, and creek areas, especially. It does get cold out this way, as we are a 1000 feet higher than Tucson. Janet 💕
