Description

Peridot Mesa is east of Globe, Arizona, on Apache tribal land. The flowers are California poppies, Eschscholzia californica. The cactus is a cholla, Opuntia sp. This was from the superbloom of 2019.

The San Carlos Apaches are called Tiis Zhaazhe Bikoh, or Small Cottonwood Canyon People.

One of the leaders of the San Carlos Apaches helps me keep track of the peak of superblooms on Peridot Mesa. This photo was taken before I made her acquaintance.
