Retro Petals is a flower painted in very retro colors and sure to suit any room you may wish to brighten with a gorgeous floral print.
There is something about painting flowers that always intrigues me as much as painting the human form, to me the two are synonymous with each other. Both have curves of light and shadow and both need warm color versus cool.
There are many flower images around so I always seek to create something that comes from within, and something slightly different than the straight and rather usual colors and tones. With this beautiful flower I wanted a slight vintage - retro appearance, and yet with vibrancy enough to interest and yet not be over-bearing.
