Description
Dramatic vertical image of saguaro cacti and a tall agave bloom stalk rising into a nearly opaque sky full of rain, dust and smoke, already dulling the gold light of late evening. Low in the background are the Santa Catalina mountains, with Finger Rock peak to the left of the taller saguaro. Look closely and you can see that the top of the shorter saguaro has been snapped off by the first very violent monsoon storm of the season. The entire image is almost monochrome in shades of olive green. This was photographed in the foothills of Tucson, Arizona in late July.
